The Cure

The Cure

The Cure is an English rock band Crawley, West Sussex that formed in 1978. The band is centered around frontman and songwriter Robert Smith. Early music can be described as post-punk and new wave, while they’ve also flirted with several other genres, including gothic rock. They tend to embody the Goth sub-genre that formed around the latter.

The Cure is known as one of the first alternative bands to have both commercial and chart success. They’ve inspired and influenced countless artists since their formation (including the Smashing Pumpkins), have had numerous hit singles and albums, and have been nominated for several awares.

The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
