Andy Fenstermaker is a music lover, writer, marketing professional, and entrepreneur who has dedicated his life to sharing his passion for music with others. He is the founder of FensePost, a renowned music blog that has been sharing the latest and greatest in indie music since 2006. Andy has always been fascinated by the power of music to connect people, and he started FensePost with the aim of sharing his love of music with others. Andy developed a passion for music at a young age. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Andy grew up surrounded by a vibrant music scene that left an indelible mark on him. He attended Washington State University, where he studied Communication and Business. He holds a BA in Communication and a Masters in Business Administration. After graduating, Andy started writing about music and created FensePost as the outlet. The blog has a strong focus on indie music, but also covers a range of other genres including folk, indie pop, psychedelic, garage rock, and experimental. Andy and the blog relocated to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in 2020.

Tomorrow, Benjamin Verdoes releases The Evil Eye on Brick Lane Records. For Verdoes, a founding and continuing member of the Seattle-based internet sensation Mount St. Helens Vietnam Band (MSHVB) on Dead Oceans, it is his first venture into solo territory. The Men: Pearly Gates

Tomorrow’s Hits, the forthcoming fourth album in as many years by The Men, is set for release on (no surprise) Sacred Bones Records. Earlier this week, the band debuted “Pearly Gates” from the album; holding a similar countrified punk-rock edge found throughout their 2013 release New Moon, The Men inject horns (one of two tracks on the new album to feature the section) for a sound that is somewhat reminiscent of Washington Post-dubbed “weirdo collective” Dark Meat. It features John Ennis (Mr. Show) trying to find is friend/partner who may have been abducted by aliens. The X-Files-like sci-fi sees Ennis driven to alcoholism (or are those mini Listerine bottles?) in his search; what he ultimately discovers blows his mind. Solander: All Opportunities

Solander came to my attention a few years back after Fredrik Karlsson branched out from his work in Swedish orchestral and experimental folk-pop collective Fredrik. While Solander has been around for the better part of a decade, the band’s debut LP didn’t arrive until 2009 and was followed a few years later by their sophomore release. I recall the first time I heard Stephen Steinbrink. I caught the final few songs of his set at one of What The Heck Fest’s final years. The song was “Breath of Fire” off his 2009 LP Ugly Unknowns. Angel Olsen: Forgiven/Forgotten

After her release of the Sleepwalker single earlier this year, I questioned whether Angel Olsen was going through a transformation. The revealing, introspective LP Half Way Home from 2012 was about as minimal as they come.
